Romatex specialises in the manufacture and supply of stitch-bonded non-woven material and other textiles. The company is multi-faceted; we have a large manufacturing facility in Cape Town where we produce these textiles, but we also have a factory store and an online platform where purchasing managers and customers can browse and buy our textiles.

Romatex has a successful history
We have a long history of success – the company was founded in the 1960s as a rope and matting manufacturer. Two decades later, stitchbond was added to the product list and today, Romatex is one of South Africa’s leading producers of this sustainable textile. As such, we have established ourselves as a vital supplier for local retailers and the hospitality sector.
However, we also sell products to individual buyers through our e-commerce platform, called Room Service. We pride ourselves on quality and exceptional standards; our employees are dedicated to maintaining this ethos, ensuring that every stage in the production cycle is carried out to the highest standards possible.
Multi-faceted nature of the company
Each entity of the company works independently but when looked at holistically, they constitute a successful business. The factory is the beating heart of Romatex. Recent equipment upgrades and investment in the facility have enabled us to expand our product offerings and output.
These textiles are either distributed to customers throughout the country from the factory or sent to the Romatex factory shop and the Room Service warehouse, where they are sold to buyers in-person or online. This setup allows us to expand our reach and target more customers through methods that suit them.
Romatex is a subsidiary of Deneb Investments Limited – a conglomerate that is owned by Hosken Consolidated Investments (HCI). Both companies are listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) and have provided significant financial backing for Romatex since 2008.
